Rwenzori Mountains National Park.


Rwenzori Mountains National Park is situated in Western Uganda on the Congo border next to Kasese. Also known as the Mountains Of the Moon, the Rwenzori Mountains, reaching a heightof 5,109m, it is also Africa's tallest mountain range.

 

With distinctive glacial peaks that are visible for miles around, the slopes above 1,600m are the preserve of hikers, who rate the Rwenzoris to be the most challenging of all African mountains.

 

With a montane forest with bamboo on lower slopes, heath and Afro-alpine moorland on higher slopes, hte mountains have acted as a home to many wildlife species such as monkeys and birds. However the scenery has forever remained an outstanding feature attracting thousands of tourists.
