Queen Elizabeth National Park.

 

Queen Elizabeth National park, approximately 2000sq km, is located in South Western Uganda. It is bordered to the North by Rwenzori mountains and Lake Edward to the west. The park is characterized by open savannah to rainforest, and dense papyrus swamps that contain a variety of species of both plants and animals.

 

Some of the animals consist of Hippos and birds. Another attraction in the park are the Ugandan Kob, Redtail Monkeys, Elephants, Lions, crocodiles and Chimpanzees which are often seen. A variety of birds also exist, such as kingfishers, cormorants, fish eagles, pelicans, saddlebill storks and much more.

 

Activities: Chimpanzee trekking, guided walks, safaris, bird watching, launch trip on the Kazinga Channel, which links Lae Edward to Lake George.

 

How to get there: The park is situated about 5-6 hours on the road from Kampala via Mbarara, and can be reached on a dirt road from Bwindi. Accessible by public transport.
